Armature Wire 1.5mm 16 guage

Aluminium modelling wire in 1.5mm or 3.0mm thickness

A very soft aluminium wire that is perfect for construction. 175m long (approx.).

Creating coils with Armature Wire:

• Step One: Wrap armature wire around a dowel rod to create coils.
• Step Two: Slide the dowel rod out when desired length is achieved.

Tip: Round Pliers can also be used to create coils or rounded shapes.

The best and safest way to cut Armature Wire:

• Tip One: Always hold one side of the wire and point the smaller side down towards the table to prevent the cut piece from flying up.
• Tip Two: Thin wires can be cut using old scissors. (Soft Wire, Flat Wire, 1.5mm Armature Wire, Craft Wire and Florist/Rainbow Wire).
• Tip Three: Use wire cutters for thicker wires (3mm Armature Wire).

How to use wire to make an Armature:

Armatures are like a skeleton. They are used to create structure before a more refined surface is applied e.g. Magiclay or Modroc.

• Step One: Use Armature Wire to create the basic skeleton for the artwork.
• Step Two: Wrap newspaper around the wire and secure with Masking Tape to pad out the structure. The more padding, the less surface material required.
